Hey folks, newB here. I have been out once so far on the Longport jetty, and it was OK, but too many fishermen and not many fish, so I still haven't got my first.

I fish Myers hole in my yak and the water usually looks pretty clean there, so I was wondering about spearing around Ol Barney, and maybe the S jetty of Barnegat inlet. Any tips or info would be welcome.

Hey jmik, I've been busy and on travel, but I'm back now. Just wanted to revisit this thread with your help hopefully...the south side of the south jetty looks awesome on google earth, just a bit of a hike from the nearest street - how are the currents there?

Yeah if you don't watch what you are doin the current can push you right in a rock cave down there or worse yet, suck you right out to sea. Plus the boats going right over your head is dangerous.

I live near AC, shark river is too far for me. OK I get it, I will never spear near barnegat inlet. Is it alright if I keep fishing there?

Fishing in the inlet is terrible this time of year.....no fish and awful seagulls which will poop on you then poke your eyeball out and the sea roaches that live in the rocks will crawl up into your underwear, there are much better places to go, try Cheesequake or Perth Amboy.

Haha! Just kidding! (about Cheesequake, but the rest is true!)

I guess all those fish I have been catching at the inlet must be mutant rats from Oyster Creek (which also has terrible fishing) that de-evolved to look just like weaks and flounder!

How about if I pop the cap on my septic system and fish for brown trout?:D

I don't even know what Perth Amboy is, I just remember passing a sign for it and my friend saying, "That's what I'm gonna name my first son, Perth Amboy!" I just thought is was a funny name like Cheesequake. Mmmmmm a milkshake made of cheese! Are those places near the water?
