Who has one? How do you like it?

Is it a conservatine model or does it push the tables a little.

I was told the it sets the PO2 on the first dive to 1.4 and subsequent dives to 1.8 PO2. What is the logic behind that?

Thanks for any help!

You were told wrong. The Dive 1 and dive 2 are for your gas choices as it is a multigas computer. It will alert you if you exceed 1.4, and 1.6 on 100%o2.

Why would you want it to push the tables a little bit??? What algorythm do you want to run? Buhlman, VPM, RGBM??

I have a Nitek He & it is quite conservative. I like it that way.

I have the Nitek Duo and while it seems 1.4 for mix 1 is a bit conservative it has never really slowed my day down.

Just to clarify: By conservative I meant deco. I can set my computer to 1.6 or 1.4 for any mix. I just use 1.6 for all dives.

Lee,

Just FYI, the Dive Rite duo is made by Seiko, and sold through numerous other companies such as TUSA, Cressi etc... Look for the best deal, it's the same computer.

You'll like it, although it might have issues with our ascent rates. It beeps at you if you ascend greater than 30fpm.

Thanks guys! Price was $300.

What I don't understand is why 1.4 on the first mix and 1.6 on the second. Is it because usually mix 2 is your deco gas and you will be shallower?

It seems like a nice easy to use(unlike Suunto!) unit. Real easy to use!

What I did like about the Suunto is the ability to program your PO2, which I usually set to 1.5 for dives to 120 feet.

Lee,

I dive with a Duo and it is a great all-round computer. It is also great for us spearos because of the pO2 settings.

A pO2 of 1.4 for your backgas is good for the working portion of your dive. You could dive it past that if you'd like and it keeps counting (it does moan a little and make the log flash), so you still have real-time pO2 info, but 1.4 should probably be your limit anyway on a dive with some exertion - like shooting fish.

The 1.6 works for your deco gas since you will not be exerting yourself during deco. Best of both worlds and pretty standard application of the theory even for the "real" tech guys.

Willem

I have a diverite as well. Very conservative and very sensitive to humidity. Can be a real pain to set. I can set my computer to 1.6 or 1.4 for any mix as well. The thing I do like, is it tells you exactly how much bottom time you have before you even go into deco. Other than that prefer my oceanic for regular dives. But when you get into tech stuff wouldn't leave the boat w/o it.

Out of curiosity, which model do you have Mrs Rogers? Because the DiveRite NiTek Duo is a snap as to when compared to the Suunto. That thing was a fokin clusterfk!! 200 keystroke to set your mixes. The Duo on the other hand, is easy: Press MODE once, you are now in dive program mode, Press SELLECT a few times until your first mix blinks, set it by pressing the SET button, then press SELLECT and your second mix blinks, set it, press MODE and you are done! You can also set your depth alarm to go off a few feet before you reach MOD. That is a handy as hell feature! I am allways watching my depth and worrying about MOD's. Not that I dont need to worry but it is nice to have that alarm there just in case.

We have the Diverite NiTek Plus. Mode, Lock, Select. Mix 1 or Mix 2, Set, & Lock again. Easy to set. It just very sensitive. It has to be sun dried or just dry to reset. And if you touch the back with wet hands. You start all over again. Otherwise you are stuck. Kinda of Ironic because it is a "Dive" Computer!

Wow! How old? That should not happen. Call Dive Rite. I hear they are great with customer support.

Hope it does not crap at depth. That could be bad.

I allways dive with my air computer on the console and the Nitek on my wrist. Two comps. I also have an analog depth guage on my pony console as a backup.

Look at the side of your nitek plus, you'll notice 3 little holes where the sensor is facing the top of the watch. Blow the water out of there, and it will not keep resetting on you. Also make sure the metal sensor on that area is not getting wet along with the metal back of the watch when you set it.

IMHO, it's easier to set it when it's off your wrist.

Thanks for the tip.A good blow should do it? LMAO! I will give it a shot, I wouldn't even think about setting it on my wrist. That would totaly self defeating! Thanks again!
