So here are some pics. No story.
A friend of mine captured the WR which stands at 91lbs. This one officialy wieghed in at 110lbs. But these guys stated that to file for a record would be too much of a hassle and were just out to have fun while finding something too eat. :D

What's the hassle in filing? It's just a couple of extra steps but your name goes down in history.
BTW, what a monster !

Just dont have time I guess or maybe its not important to some people. We have all had some fish that have beat some records but just dont feel like doing all the pictures, taping, etc. Just want to have fun and find some food to eat. Got the pictures of the experience and there content with that. Records doesnt say anything about how good you are when it comes to spearfishing IMO. Guess you can call these divers with humilty. I dont know why they didnt want to send it in to see what they could get. Just thaught the fish was awesome and wanted to show people big fish are still abondant in the oceans. I know seeing stories of big fish relights my flame of enthusiasm.

It also doesn't help that it took two of them to land the fish and for the "record" it can only be one.
"Divers with humility." That's funny.
Monster Fish!!

That's the problem. A lot of people get too caught up in the rat-race of records, and forget the most important part of diving is having fun.
Records are lame in my opinion.
Nice fish!!!!!!!!!

pheeeew! Now we know its official
Funny, I dont remember seeing you there. Just because you read one thing doesnt mean that is set in stone on what actually happened.
I dont want to spoil your hero's accomplishments by getting strict on the rules here now. If you want to go tit for tat Im sure we can find many flaws in the rules.

I agree with you on the records. I dont like diving with people who seek records. They arent good dive buds and you find yourself alone a lot. Whats the point of taking a dive bud?
Maybe if I felt that the fish was worthy enough to submit, so to speak, I would take all the time and effort after a long dive to see it through.
Our big groupers can get it but the smallers ones I havent heard a problem.

I didn't realize you were there and had first hand knowledge of the catch. I'm just basing my information on what one of the Spearo's involved stated. Are you saying he was lying when he told the story?

Im saying someone could tell you anything to achieve glory. If you werent there, you would never know what really happened other than what someone told you. Im not saying this is the case here.
Even though he didnt have all the rules cleared doent mean all is lost. You can have a rule infractions and still get awarded in some way.
Then on the second question why dont you read the rules of IUSA and then read the rules that Devin posted a month ago on Woody's forum. Im sure your smart enough to put 2 and 2 together.
