View Full Version : 40 miles for nothing

Since the ocean was like a lake We went 40 miles out of shark river yesterday looking for a wreck i have been waiting to dive. When we got out there we spent a few hours trying to anchor and find the wreck because our gps was messed up. when we finaly anchored we were over the wreck and right away our anchor cut loose because we didn't have enough line. So we never got to dive that wreck we headed back in shore and dove the wreck we went to last week and I guess we took all the lobsters last week because we only got three but we did shoot a decent fluke. And we got into a blits of blues on the way in so it was not a bad day.

i was diving in the inlet and there were a ton of blues,for fun i shot a 15lber and it pulled me all over the place

What wreck were you going to at 40 miles out and how deep was it every wreck I know that is 40miles out is at least around 200ft. deep?

still sounds like a decent day man, i wish i was still in NJ. i would wanna come diving with you. you guys seem to know whats up with the bugs and wrecks and shit. what kind of viz do you have on those wrecks and what depth?

it was really nice,i saw an even bigger one last weekend but i let it live,i probably would have lost my gun if i shot it

there were two wrecks we tried to find the first one was called happy days which we found but couldnt anchor it was a 105ft deep. The second wreck was called irma c but we didnt find that one but the area the gps said it was in was 110ft. both of the wrecks were close to the yankee. njspearo the vis can be good or bad but for the most part this year it has been in the 15 to 25 foot range except last monday it was like 5 to 10ft with a really bad surge thats the worst ive had it this year. And the depth that we dive is usually 60 to 100ft.

thats cool bug hunter i, i would have loved to dive some of those wrecks will still in nj
