Hi SpearBoarders!
Time for a new product posting - this week the Pelaj Bullet float.
These floats are blow moulded from ultra high density self healing EVA foam with integrated keel and threaded dive flag.
Cored with 1000lb Monofilament and high tensile stainless steel clips the Bullet float is “blaze” orange for ultra high visibility.
They are super tough, high quality floats tested to 300ft!
MSRP: $99 ($89.10 for SpearBoard members!)

What is their flotation rating? Are there various sizes?

what keeps the flag from just tipping over?

what keeps the flag from just tipping over?
I'm guessing "integrated keel" means it has weight strategically molded inside the float to keep a flag upright.
S@P, is it available without the weight?

Hi Guys
Thanks for the enquiries.
The float has 10L of lift and yes, the integrated keel keeps it upright - the flag is kept in place by a CNC turned aluminium male/female threaded fitting - very classy!
At this stage it is only available in a flag version and in one size.

What do you mean by "Self-Healing"?
Service @ Pelaj

Hi Splitfish
"Self Healing" refers to the memory the float exhibits.
This is due to how dense the foam is - when compressed the float will revert back to its normal shape.
The only time it wont go back to its usual shape is when the molecular/cellular structure of the foam is effected which in the context of spearfishing shouldnt ever happen.

What were the results of testing this float to 300'?
Also, based on your answer to splitfish that the foam not hard? So is it semi soft?

Hi Not Nate
Hard to answer the "semi soft" question - they are rigid floats but if you pushed on the surface there is a little leeway. Hard to explain.
The float is EVA so will compress under sustained pressure (at great depths) but will heal unless its structural integrity is permanently altered.
We performed pressure chamber tests as well as testing by submerging the floats at 300ft for a few days - no permanent damage occurred.
We tried to make this product bomb proof - essentially we wanted it next to impossible to destroy them under even the most extreme conditions.

With that kind of comression at depth, how does that affect the lift? If it compresses to say 50% of it's size at 300 feet, does that mean it only has half the lift at that point?

Hi David
At 300ft it would compress less than 10% and yes, the lift would reduce relative to the amount the float compresses.
Unlike other rigid floats however the Bullet float would uncompress as it moves up into shallower depths.

Hi Matt,
What are the dimensions of the float in inches (not mm)?
Looks good, Tony

Hi Tony
The Bullet float is:
- 1ft 3inches long;
- 6.5inches wide (as per the diameter of the rear of the"bullet"); and

These floats really are built well. I just got a few here and am very impressed with the make up of the float. Extremely well made, great screw in flag and well balanced. They appear to be able to take a quite a bit of abuse.

Here is how the CNC weight is setup to keep the flag upright:
..... and yes, the lift would reduce relative to the amount the float compresses.

Well if it didn't you would really be on to something wouldn't you???

Sorry for waking up an ole thread. I really like Pelaj railguns, those are really nice. But in this case, what`s the difference between a regular lobster buoy and this new float?
Are they made out a different material or something, I mean higher density foam?
