My oceanic data plus 2 shit the bed on me this week. It always thinks I'm at 6 or 7 feet deep. This one is a replacement that I had to wait for a couple of months during prime diving season when my other one crapped out on me, and I bet it does'nt have 30 dives on it. If anyone is looking for a computer look at something besides OCEANIC!!!

Oceanic actually doesnt make their computer, they slap their name on one and call it good. I have the Aeris 300G (same comuter as Oceanic, different name) and have had flawless service from it for the past two dive seasons.
I'm surpirsed you had an issue with them. Oh well!

in my own opinon and use, i have had no problems with oceanic stuff. i have the datamax pro plus, and havent had any problems with it at all. i know if atleast 4 more people who have had the same model, and had no problems, or any problems with any other oceanic products. the majority of my dive equiptment is oceanic, and i love it. my bc, regulator, octo, and int. air computer is all oceanic. but like i said before, its my own opinion.

and so the old saying goes "to each his own"

liberty hound I have the same computer and mine shows 4 feet in the boat or at the surface but at 10 feet it is within one foot of my nitek c and logs the same dive time. It is a little anoying but not a problem it happened after I changed batteries the first time.

I also have the Data Plus 2 and have had no problems at all with it. I also use a lot of Oceanic products and have had nothing but good service from them.

thanks for the replies. sounds like everyone else has had good luck with them. Maybe I just had alittle bad luck.

I've been diving with my latest Oceanic Data II Plus for 2 years and it's work flawlessly. I haven't heard of anyone else having problems with it either.

Call the company and don't put up with any of their shit. I've heard they are pretty good at replacing faulty gear.

Good Luck

dude, i work at a shop and let me tell you that oceanic does have the best computers out there. uwatec and suunto are just too conservative for any hard core diving. a while back, oceanic had a bad batch of data plus 2's, alot of them have come back, but there haven't been any problems recently. i dive 5 days a week for a living, and use a versa pro by oceanic, it is the greatest thing that i have yet to find. i definately put it to the test and it passes-actually oceanic and aqualung have used me for product testing in the past. thats my two cents- i hope it helps....paul
