i was putzin around marineweather.com and found a portion of the site that allows you to submit a float plan for your fishing trip. i thought this was a pretty cool feature and easy to fill out. i know a float plan can be very helpful to the coast guard in the event that something terrible would happen. just something to consider before you head out for a long trip next time.

You can also call you tow insurance company or any tow company and give them your float plan.

If you don't call by a certain time to inform them you returned they will make a few calls to verify before launching a boat. They also coordinate their efforts with the coast guard if the situation dictates.

Good idea. I don't currently have a boat, but in our situation we don't really need one. My son and I can reef hunt by swimming off any beach. But, before we go we always let the wife know exactly which beach we are going to and which alternate beach.
