Divin Fool and Crew, Good to meet you at the ramp Sunday. Spearboard just keeps getting stronger with a great network of shooters.
Seastalker just told me of a theft that happened at Sea Harvest Sunday night. Some Pisswad jumped into the Mako and took WeberSP's light and Stalker's green notebook of numbers. Too bad we didn't catch them in the act! No worries, we have another copy of the numbers and hope to run into them on a spot one day. Can't wait!
Diving Sunday:
One word, alright two: Mola Mola
http://www.earthwindow.com/mola.html (Check it out)
We had a cool Ocean sunfish check us out. I dove around it for a few minutes before it went down. It had to be cool to jump into the 62 degree water to swim with a fish. The frame for the gyotaku would have cost a fortune and it would have never fit into the cooler.
Seas got better during the day and made for a nice trip in. The current was ripping at the 21 fathom area, but I managed a nice mutton and a decent hogfish. The surface temp was 70 degrees out in this area.
We moved into the party grounds area and found less current. The temp here was 62 on the bottom and 64 on the surface. The viz was about 15-20' and you had to really dig those goes out from under the ledge. I managed a few more snappers and a lobster while Seastalker loaded up his stringer with goes.
The Crew: Hogwild, WeberSP, Seastalker, Merk & BradB. I was diving with Brad and Mickey aboard the Knight Moves vessel and Scott and Brian were on Mark's Mako. I'll let them give their version of the dives.

Nice to put a face with some of the other board members....Divin fool can't remember your partners handle name and did not catch if Steve H was a member....
Did the AL produce for you....????
Well it all adds up for one sorry day.....well hopefully whoever jumped in the boat while we were eating has balls.....considering we were dining in front of the window.......0-well nothing to loose any sleep over it was just the boat copy......
As Dan mentioned we started deep but the current was ripping...and considering NOAA forecast of 1-2 feet that were 3-5 at 8am we chose not to push are luck after spending an hour jugging and dropping on the jug without getting sucked away in the current. 70 degrees in this area...must have been a eddy from the gulf stream....so he moved in close to the party grounds. We hit a ledge the historically was a consistent bug producer only to pull 1 bug and a few go's. We decided to move to an area just south to a ledge that runs for about 300 yards and always was good for a few bugs ( produced 18 opening day) and the possibility of turning a large grouper for a long shot. Dam there is a boat on the North tip......so we moved 250 yards down to the south tip and jugged.....but it appeared the other boat was following their divers toward us so we pulled the jug and ran out to east 11.
Hit a north break that was holding small AJ's and chicken red snapper.....none legal or to close to call....gave into the pressure and tagged a few huge triggers.....and one go
Made a quick dive on a small section just inside on the main breaks.........go's galore.....not small ones....saw four or five that easily toped 10 plus pounds...shot 2 pigs and had the shaft pull when digging them out...poor shaft placement on my part...finished out the dive with a nice stinger of 9 go's .......and left one luck grouper who kept coming in close for a look while I was digging the go's out. On the way in one quick check from the friendly marine patrol and we were on our way.....
a bad day beats yard work any day.....

man thats one wierd lookin fish.that must have been cool as shit to swim with one.atleast you guys got to shoot a few fish.seas were calm today over here on the west coast acording to noa.would have went out but i know the vis probably wouldnt have been shootable.the grounds trip this weekend isnt looking to probable either
I can't believe someone had the balls to jump in your boat and take your numbers and help themselves to Scott's flashlight. I had a bad feeling when we were cleaning the boat and the light was nowhere to be found and I knew darn well it was there when we pulled the boat out of the water.
As for the rest of the day there's not much else to report. Shot one shitty sheepshead on the first dive holding on to the reef with one hand and swimming as hard as I could. Man the current was ripping. After the fist dive I looked at SeaStalker and said that was it for me for the rest of the day. He looked at me and said we're going inshore...... that was all I needed.
Second dive I didn't see anything to shoot at but a few short triggers. You know it's bad when you sizing up a trigger. Saw one large mango but didn't get the gun turned in time and he was history.
Since I was flying today (Monday) I had to sit the rest of the day out. The best dive of the day was the last as SeaStalker salvaged the day.
Scott, Mickey, Dive'n Fool, nice meeting you guys and look forward to shootin with you soon.

Aside from the @#$%^&* who stole my gear and Mark's numbers book, I had a great time. Weather was a bit crappy, current was strong, missed the mother load of snapper by 15 feet, but none of that mattered! You couldn't pry the damn grin off my face. I must have looked like teenager after his first hummer!!! I was so glad to be out of the office! Any time on the water is a great time. Nature's bounty and good friends with whom to share! When it comes down to it, those are two of the best parts of sporting.
But, all that said, some peaple are real shits. Anybody that would climb up into someone's boat and steal gear and numbers, with the owner right near by, has some balls, and deserves to get his kicked off. I loose enough of my own gear myself to start having to worry about replacing grear due to theft! If I catch the cowardly pool of rotting afterbirth that did this I'm going to have some real fun "subduing him" for the proper authorities. I figure I can explain away up to 3 spearshafts in the theif as "self defense." I wonder where the most painful, but not immediatley life threatening place to get shot would be. . . .
May this and every holiday season bring you and your faimily peace and joy.

Nice to meet you guys as well.
AL must have been hit the day before...fish were skiddish and there were only 3 bugs on it. When the vis is better and it has not been dove on, it can be a great ledge.
Overall it was a disapointing day...could have nailed some smaller Mangos...but I was (as usual) looking for the big un's. Should have had the powerhead on when those big Cobes came by..just did'nt have the balls to nail a 50# on a lineshaft with only 700psi....like they say no guts no glory:D
Mark- hate to hear somebody ripped you off. I always leave the boat in sight when stopping. I would bet that you will find out who stole your book....esp if you know any of the locals. Worthless POS. I'd hate to catch somebody doing something like that....I'd probably kill them and I'd go to jail.
You may know David...I dive with him and a few other guys most of the time lately. He gets on SB once in a while.
Good Luck on the JRII...give us a full report.
