Went out today with Keezdiver and got pounded. Seas were an easy four feet and the big fish were not to be found by us. I got a black and a few hogs in two dives. Vis was good wtih a thermocline at 65 fsw. Jeff shot this donkey in about 60 feet. It is 40" and weighed @30#.

We were off Marathon by the Thunderbolt. Straight in to the waves on the way out and surfing on the way in. We wouldn't have made it if the wind was 20 degrees in either direction.

there were NO grouper to be found...we had to search and search for that one brian got.
that AJ just sat there taunting me...it was chilling by a cleaning station next to a coral head. brian and i looked at each other and i could see he wasn't interested.
i contemplated it...aimed...he moved and swam a circle around me...moved back to his previous spot and sat there again. i thought to myself, this has to be a brain shot or i'm gonna get my ass kicked! i carefully aimed from about 4 ft away...taking about 20 sec to pull the trigger.
spear went in, hit the coral benind him, the shaft wasn't even out of the end of my gun! he opened his mouth as if to yawn...and just laid there DEAD...right through the brain!

Way to go Brian and Keez. How was the current? With just the two of you, do you anchor and swim up current? I get nervous not leaving someone in the boat after missing my line trailing off the stern once and drifting out of site of the boat. Thank God for a commercial hook and liner who picked me up and brought me back to my buddy who couldn't get the engine started.
Never done that again in 20 years:p

I always am a little nervous to leave the boat when there are waves braking over the bow. I just hope the rope is still sloping towards the surface when I get back to the anchor. The current on saturday was pretty stiff, we both had headaches from the hard swim. Because of the very obvious landmarks underwater it is not hard to find your way back to the anchor at this spot. Jeff an I have dove together alot and I would not recomend this kind of diving to everyone.
