Tino, you may want to front page this one too, as I don't think many folks are gonna see it.

Nice to see that they cleared up a bunch of gray areas. The lobster daily bag
and possession limit is seven
(7) lobsters. This includes
any lobster stored at home
or elsewhere; at no time may
more than seven lobsters be in
anyone’s possession.

Also, they changed it from "hooked implements" to just "implements"

No implements other than hoop nets may be
used to take lobster. Divers may only use their bare
or gloved hands to take lobster.

I applaud DFG's efforts to get the word out. Considering the time they have spent in putting this brochure together, you might have thought they would have tried to clear up the apparent conflict created by the regs as stated in the brochure and the provisions of the multi-day permit. I have thought that the MDP allows for possession of multiple day limits. But the brochure says you can't possess more than one limit. Still, it's a start.

Chip, I think that none of the leaflets put out by the DFG make mention of the MDP.

My guess as to why would be that it just doesn't come up enough to warrant the extra text.

Very interesting point Chip.

How would one prove, say 14 or even 21 lobsters in one's freezer were taken with a MDP? Would the MDP have to be posted on your freezer? How long would it be valid?

I too am glad that they are at least making an effort on making the regs a little more clear. Now if they would just change the wording on what day one can actually take lobster, they would really be making some progress!

:yup:

Doesn't seem that hard to just make season start at 0001 on the last Saturday of September.

You would think.

Of course, since this brochure makes no specific amendments to any existing DFG regulaton and doesn't propose new ones, as signified by a regulation number/section/subsection then you have to wonder if it is just an interpretation of the existing laws set forth by the DFG as opposed to actual changed regulation.
