Went out on Slay Ride out of Charleston SC with Slayride and eyeball . Weatherman was calling for 2-3 wich turned into 4-5. No problem for the big bertram but it made bottom fishing and picking up divers tough.

First spot we racked up on flounder. I had two on my spear before my knees touched the sand. Eyyeball got to try out his new blue 52 rhino classic speargun for the first time and shot a female hog, sheepshead, couple of flounder, and his first grouper. Unfortunatley he forgot to hold onto his gun on the way up and davey jones claimed it. :( vis was about 15' and the water was pretty cold. Have to check my computer for exact temp.

2nd dive was about 3 miles away. Eyyeball didnt feel well so just les and I dove it. Much more grouper and snapper on this dive. Freeshafted a nice 22 hog (officially weighed by DNR) that tried to whip my ass to top the day off. This weather needs to ease up so we can get out more often. I'm out of practice :D :D

Yeah I will remember to put my arms thru the bands next time!:p

We should be able to find it pretty easy tho, we marked the GPS spot withing 20 yards or so of where it went down and I dropped it fairly close to the bottom and it went straight down without any drift.

We keep telling him that Kevin, but I guess newbie's will be newbie's. Even the ol' destructo-magnet Les hasn't lost a GUN. I can loose everything else but my GUN. Nice day. The fishermen did pretty good on the boat as well. Good to know Slay Ride can handle 5' seas and still drink my rum on the way home. 17 flounder, grouper, hog snapper, BIG blackfish, red porgies. Lots of good eating for the week.

PS. eyeball is trying to tell us a sheepshead was biting his finger, that's why he let go of the gun. Why was he sticking his finger in the sheepshead mouth to begin with???? :)

Pretty good reason actually, I recite it three times a week at the meetings, it goes like this.

Hello, my name is Eyyeball and I'm a stupid Newbie.

Admitting that you have a problem is of course the first step to getting help. Pretty soon I'll be getting my white chip for being in NA (newbies anonymouse) for 8 months :D

Great looking Hog. Sorry to hear about your gun but keep your hopes up. I once lost a light on a ledge and found it a month later. I was just wondering how far out do you have to travel to find decent dive spots. Are you guys diving on artificial wrecks or natural bottom?

Natural bottom and I believe it's about 30-35 miles out for 90-120'
