Anchor from front or back?

Hey guys, I want to attach the anchor to the back of my kayak, but my dad says its a bad idea lol. Is there logic in this? I'm thinking "front back, what difference does it make"? Am I wrong?

I anchor from the back all the time. The anchor tether is closer to your sitting position.

As far as wave action... my kayak is fairly symmetrical and I don't see that swell would affect it more one way or the other.

What was your dads reasoning?

yeah, since 'yaks are so symetrical, i would place anchor wherever it was easiest for me to acces and deploy/retrieve.

I use an anchor, off the back, when hook 'n' line fishing.

it just doesn't matter as long as you have enough line!
