Where are you LA area people going to look for freedive equipment (actual store...not online)?

Thanx

The Freedive Shop in Hermosa Beach is probably the best source of freedive equipment. Lots of different brands to choose from. Other places have a a very limited selection of freedive gear, but it is usually limited to masks, fins, and maybe a a gun or two.

Dive and Surf carries Riffe gear.

There hours are 11-7pm Tue-Sat they close an hour early on Sundays and are closed Mondays. As John said that is a great store and I really advocate and support people buying from them or similar shops. Its always nice to get a bit of a deal online when you can. But at the end of the day, I'd rather give my money to people who care about you and the sport in order to keep them around for the future. Not to mention the economy and how bad retail is right now...support your LDS

Thanks Nowhere.
Seacrecher, your avatar brings a tear to my eye. What an epic few weeks of shore diving that was. A lot of people ate well.

Indeed it was. The epic shorediving is the only thing I miss about this place:(

1000 aviation sounds about right. it's just a couple blocks off PCH. kitty corner to the ocean grill restaurant. it's a very small shop and it's right on the corner. parking is sketchy at best. your options are to get lucky and have a spot right outside the shop or you can park at the chicken restaurant that's 5 doors up and walk down.

being new to the sport, those guys have been really really helpful. for the small size of the shop square footage wise, it's pretty impressive what they can pack in there!

good luck

It is on Aviation and Ocean. Like JP said, right on the corner of the intersection.

Glad to hear they have increased inventory, bought my wifes suit from them and plan to head down there this weekend. Always a good thing to support the local shop if possible.

Are you sure its open? When I talked to Roger at the Scramble Meet, he said it was closed and he was looking for an honest manager to replace the one that stole from him.

Glad to hear its open and under new management. I sent a newbie friend up there months ago and he got very poor service. He said the guy couldn't wait on him because he was busy talking to his girlfriend on the phone, and then when he bought a new 5 mm suit, the guy told him that he needed about 6 pounds of weight. Needless to say, he had to go back later for a lot more weight.

Hey Everybody,

My name is John and I'm the new manager at The Freedive Shop in Hermosa Beach. Thanks for all the great remarks as most of you know the shop's future has been in question as of late and I have stepped in to help turn things around. Before working here I was a customer at this shop and know well the long and short of its recent history (i.e. hardly ever open; less than adequate inventory), with that said I would like you all to know that we are well on our way to being THE shop to go to for all your spearfishing needs. We now have in stock over 30 guns from your entry level basic guns all the way to the high end of the spectrum. We are carrying a wide array of accessories including rigging, breakaways, reels, floats & floatlines, Lobster bags, a large selection of low volume freediving masks & snorkels and much more! I invite you to come in check out the new set-up and please if you have any comments or suggestions I'd love to hear them! I want this to be "YOUR" store as much as it is ours...Next time you're in the area drop in and mention this post and I'll get you 10% off any purchase of $100 or more :thumps:

Thanks for your support and Happy Hunting!!!

Sincerely,

John Ziello
