Has anyone here suffered ciguatera poisoning? Why don't we hear about this more often in Mexico and Hawaiian waters?
I'm considering a baja trip and want to be smart about what fish (trigger, grouper, parrot, etc) I consume. I also have a Hawaii trip lined up. I was talking with a friend last week that sailed from OC down to Baja and all around the Cortez and coastal Mexican waters for a year with his family. He didn't have much knowledge about what fish he could and could not eat but it didn't seem to stop him. He shot and consumed all kinds of tropical water fish and never had any side effects. Is this something I should be that concerned with?
