Anybody ever try spearing Indian River Inlet? The current looks pretty wicked, but I'm sure slack tide seems doable. I've seen guys pulling up some nice bass, but I think they'll look better with my spear through them. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Indian river is the bomb. The currents there are a bit of a problem, but it slack starts at around an hour after high. Watch out for boats and getting sucked out/across the inlet. Definately not as easy and laid back as Manasquan, Shark River or Ocean City, Md. Most of the time you get about 5' vis if you're lucky. Most of the time, inside you have to dive 20-30' to start seeing Blackfish. Stripers are like anywhere else, top, bottom, middle. Sheepshead (should still be around) and spadefish in the summer. Water was 55 this past weekend and black below 20'.

Thanks Dave. Is Ocean City Inlet any better for clarity since it's further away from the bay? Or is just as fickle as the rest? The jetty that runs the south side looks fun. I imagine that it's not too deep on the other side though.

OC inlet is hit or miss too. A lot depends on swell direction I guess. The south jetty on the ocean side is pretty fun, but shallow. Inlet side is really good too, deeper, but you can't legally shoot stripers in Md. Also DNR can be a hassle sometimes.
IRI is good on both sides, North side goes out a lot farther though, just watch for currents.
