We are planning a trip to Destin in September and would like to try spearfishing. We are from Arkansas and are used to diving for Walleye and Catfish mostly. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it.

Here are some operators you can hook up with. If you are going to want to spearfish make sure they know that. The fall is a good time to dive over there, the flounder come in on the nearshore wrecks and are plentiful. They will fill you in on the rest.

Heather @ The Scuba Shop in nearby Ft.Walton Bch. www.thescubashopfwb.com 850/243-1600. They refer to The Dive Emporium which runs the Sea Pal II, a 40' 6 pack.

Nancy or Karla @ ScubaTech in Destin. www.scubatechnwfl.com 850/837-2822. They run the 45' Sea Cobra and Nancy is a veteran hunter.

Anna or Lori @ Emerald Coast Scuba in Destin. www.divedestin.com 850/837-0955. They run the Aquanaut and the Under Pressure.

Whenever you are coming to Florida check out www.scubanews.com and click on Find a Dive Boat/Find a Dive Shop. You can choose any part of Florida and click on and it lists all the dive shops and dive charter boats by area.

Hope this helps.

Walleyehunter,
Good info from ScubaNewsGuy. It's too early to make plans, the weather is a major factor in when you can dive the NW Florida Gulf, but there are a lot of us with smaller private boats that are always looking for an excuse for mid-week diving. Give a holler as the time gets closer.
