I've been using a slip-on popper as a PPD, but want to step up to the screw on type. Will this type of powerhead screw right onto a threaded freeshaft for a Biller style gun? I would lilke to dedicate one shaft as my powerhead shaft and mount it with a second S.S. spare shaft holder. Do I need to do anything with the flopper on this dedicated PH shaft? Thanks...

Yes and no, to answer your two questions.
Thirdly, get a B & B.

Unless shooting commercially, I've never been a big fan of traditional PH's. To me, they present more danger than any shark.
Most disposable PH's don't work well, but there is one that does. Sheri posted information about this disposable a while back-

The PH has an inner o-ring to securely hold it on the tip or shaft, it's lightweight, very quick to use, and comes ready to use (no need assembly required).

I am also not a big fan of traditional phs either. Like formentioned they are very dangerous, especially if left on a gun full time. The saftey systems are far from foolproof and do not last durring the vigors of spearfishing. We make some similar to the ones Sheri's talked about but ours don't seal. We use a very cheap russian 762 military round that is sealed during production. At the end of the day we toss the round if not used. They are completely safe due to the fact the shaft is the firing pin. Also note on many occations with sharks I have required multiple rounds to repel the threat permenately. Sorry ours arn't for sale but Ray makes some very similar that work great. We have found the failures have come from using shells for more than one day or shells that are not sealed properly. Just my 77 cents.

I own both a Beco and a 30.06 Ray Odor Sliptip. THe sliptip is fine for most situations. I only bring the .223 beco when I am planning to take my Jack limit. Other than that, very clumsy and kinda heavy to carry around with you for the whole dive. Safetys on the Becos are NOT foolproof. There is a member who can tell you about this!!!
