My Tortugas trip got canned today. Damn, two months of prep and one weekend of bad weather is a frustrating mix. I am trying to scramble for a day trip this Saturday so I at least get out. Ughhhh!

Just spoke to Dave...We set another date for April 18 to make up for this trip. There wont be any bugs to get, being out of season, but the shooting should still be good and the weather nice, I am guessing...freakin weather.
There we some other Tortugas trips planned this weekend also...UG and Playmate that I know of, I wonder if they are going to bag it also?

I would like to do a trip on that boat but it would have to be bug season. If you plan to do some thing for later in the year keep me in mind .

I'll do that. I found out we can bring 6 divers on board for the Tortugas trip, same price per person. At least I know I have room for one more guy if need be on this trip. I know one thing, I have not seen a ton of bugs down there to begin with, hope you were not looking to limit out? :)
Plus, if my brother comes with us, he probably wont dive a lot, so really we only have 5 divers, it's just with six divers, things get a little more crampt with sleeping and eating space, things like that.

John,
Why don't you come over here? It should be decent and the Gulfstream (Florida Current) is about as close as it gets right now.
SATURDAY
EAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 3 FEET NEAR SHORE AND TO 6 FEET OFFSHORE. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A MODERATE CHOP IN EXPOSED AREAS.
SUNDAY
EAST WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS DECREASING TO 5 TO 10 KNOTS IN
THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SEAS 3 TO 5 FEET. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A
MODERATE CHOP IN EXPOSED AREAS.

You know, day trip here wont be bad, it's the Tortugas that are 5-7 over the weekend. I'll tell you what, I already booked the boat, so if it falls through I'll come over. I'll come shoot with you guys next month. You tech guys have my head spinning with all the gear you are talking about. cool shit :)
Does it help with the diving when the gulfstream is close?

Typically the viz is better and there's a wider variety of fish moving through. We used to just go out dive under the weedlines and along the color change. I haven't done one of those dives in a while though.
What are you doing over there? I'd like to get on the Fantastico as soon as the water gets over 70

I will let you know the temp after saturday, but I am guessing sometime at the end of next month...that is a rough guess based on how the temp has been rising over here.

Hey, I saw your post over on Edivers with the agenda. Eric and I are discussing this. We'll know for sure tomorrow (Thursday). Is this on one of Jeff Hunters boats??

Yes...It is. The Nauti Gal. I am taking a few of my friends that have been wanting to get out. They are not as experienced, but wanted to get out. So, the depths are 60-80, a lot similar to what I talked to Eric about before our trip got blasted last month.
I only have two spots left, maybe a third...but that would be 7 divers on that boat. Let me know.
