went 21 miles south east to like 4 foot of vis it was like diving in the dark. finally got a bigger fish to the boat. there was three of us pretty close together then all the sudden my buddy turned really quick and i heard him shoot. didnt see any thing for a second then his line tightened and i see the aj....hes screaming shoot shoot and i shot right through the gills...stoned. my buddy got his tail while i was trying to string him and he came back to life... that fish beat the crap outta us. broke my buddies spear tip so now its just one spear in him. my other buddy shot him in the center so after the fish settled down a lil bit i got my hand on his tail and that was it. he was 43" to the fork i dont know how much he weighed.92148

3 spears? That's one tough fish! It's good to have friends around in those kind of situations. Who claimed the fish? :D

Good going....

I went out with ARK Friday to 40+ feet of VIS and have an excellent day of diving out of Sebastian. (Bugs fish etc..)

We went today thinking it would still be good to find the same $hit VIS you had. Maybe 8 feet and pitch black down there. It seemed the bottom was actually clear but the trash in the mid water took the light out. We both crawled across the bottom and got some lobster (8) on one dive but didnt get anything after that.

We were North and then ran South to no avail....

Amazing how it goes from perfect to Bollocks in a day.

Glad you bagged a AJ!

Ryan

Is that a big margate or a drum?

Looks like a big margate to me. There's definitely some prehistoric sized ones out there.

It is a margate. Hard question if there good to eat or not. Some people eat ribbon fish. If you were to ask me I would say there not that great. I would eat em on survivor. Probably need to deep fry em.

ive eaten black margate, not as good as White Margate though, but edible, especially if fresh. I dont shoot them any more, more selective now, so much better and plentiful fish to shoot!
