Gotta wonder how this might play into the current SoCal MPA process.

Is this required viewing for the BRTF?

What a bunch of crap!

I swear we need to make videos to counter this kind of BS.
Nowhere in that poorly made video was there any shred of evidence to support their point.
Fancy backdrops, official and empathetic music....
Why not throw in some otter, seal, or whale kills?

I agree that we need to change our perception of the ocean being limitless, but understanding the ocean should be our first step in trying to effectively manage it.

Here are some of the sites linked to this video...

I should have pointed out that this video is only a trailer from a full length documentary currently being premiered at the Sundance film festival.

The movie "End of the Line" is based on the best selling book of the same name, by journalist Charles Clover.

Looks like the reporting of this film is just starting.

Where are the spearfishing films that educate the public about the selectivity of spearfishing? Seems like too many of the YouTube spearfishing clips being churned out might not be helping to advance the best of our sport. The focus is primarily on the shooting and rarely on the appreciation of the resource.

Good point Chip.
I would like to work on something like this. Then again I would need a lot of help covering the needed points.:D

Okay, I'll hold down the seals and otters if you can grab a bat, then we'll use my truck to run over the whales. Austin can handle the video!!:D

i think we need to do a lot of PR work that showcases spearfishermen as the ocean stewards that we are. we should even get more events going that are related to ocean cleanup, marine restoration etc., with dive clubs involved and get press coverage. the bad guys are really the trawlers, longliner's, polluters. they don't post videos on the internet though. websites like spearboard and youtube make our miniscule impact much more visual and dramatic. this transparency needs to be counterbalanced.
