Kelsea is going. And you, you sorry bastards, you should be there too. This is a general meeting with the Blue Ribbon Task Force. They are deciding you fate in the end. If you can, tomorrow would be a very good meeting to go to. If you want to carpool, you know where to find me. If you have questions about what will be discussed, you know where to find me. A little pain tomorrow may divert a lot more pain a year from now. 'Cause once this is over with, you know where to find me. Hanging by a rope if this goes down badly.

All the fun it promised to be. I was glad so many divers showed up!! There was me, and........

At least Kelsea tried to go, but got called into work. Anywho, today was the kind of meeting you should have been there for. Only 5 people total in the room where I was. There were only 13 total at the room in Sacremento. All the mandatory BRTF people, a couple Science advisors, a couple MLPA communications/ outreah/ directors, and the majority of the outside people were guess who.... Anyway, I got to make a great many points to the SAT advisor there in Lakewood today, and he was a great audience. When it came to science reasoning, he understood exactly what I was saying. He took notes:D and that's good! The outreach coordinator was really cool, he asked a lot of questions, and we got a lot of ideas put forth. Later in the day, the rep from Heal the Bay used my same argument, after I had spoken with the SAT advisor and MLPA coordinator. It caught them off guard to see that I had brought the issue even before the Heal the Bay rep could. After all, he has has 20+ years, and over $8 BILLION dollars to his credit. (He had to tell us, so we would know his credentials...) but I beat him to the punch!

Your input at these meetings is critical. There is no other way to state it. We, as divers, had ONE person speak up for us today. Had we gotten 5 divers there?? We would have been the MAJORITY! Do you understand yet what is going to happen?? Do you at all realize we have an opportunity to really make good arguments and protect ourselves? You brag about how you know so much more than the average schlub about the ocean, because you see it every time you go fishing the way you do. Today, you had a very captive audience to PROVE IT. Some of the most important ideas shared do not come out in the public speaking moments. Don't feel bad. Only one guy showed up to speak up for fishing rights today.

Screw that. Feel bad. You deserve it.

Thanks for all your efforts Paul.
Its so easy to turn tail and walk out of those meetings when you do not see other familiar faces, and I commend you for putting up with the stress.

I know we can inspire divers to show up to these meetings.
Just hope its not too late when everyone decides its time to make a stand...

Keep up with the posts Paul, hopefully your efforts will inspire others.:thumps:
Maybe we need to put some of these posts in the general CA section, as it seems they get little traffic here.

You know, that was what I was thinking, too. I am pumping a link in there, with my bitching at fishermen on Bloodydecks . :stupid:
