wisdom ive accrued from old divers says that once the appleblossoms pop, tautog will be around..i know it doesnt really make sence but my father whos been diving for 35 years and all his friends swear by this rule and say that theyve went before the apple blossoms and there was nothing. i guess i accept it. by that rule though, usually around late march/april.

I have caught them on rod n reel in April. I believe tog goes out of season in NJ from May 1st to July 16...hopefully they change that.
