I lost my guide.

I am headed to Cozumel and I am looking for a scuba/spearfishing guide to take 3-4 divers out.

I would really like to find a local guy with a small boat that I can hire for the whole day 3-4 days in a row that way we can freedive/dive as we please.

any help or assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks Fin, I have been in touch with Leo and I am looking forward to using him as my guide while I am down there.

He seems like a laid back easy going guy with a lot of knowledge.

Did you end up using Leo? I'm going to end up in Cozumel or Hawaii in December. I have sent Leo an email, but I'd love a character reference! How did your trip go?

I'm going with Leo on 10/6. I have limited freediving experience. I have been back and forth with him and so far he has been quick to respond and quite helpful. I will report back.

Sorry, I just found these posts. Leo is great, really helpful and fired up about spearfishing. He does both freediving from shore ( make sure your in shape because its a long way out) and he also sets up Scuba dives.

I had a really bad blister problem and didn't get to spear as much as I would have liked. I got the impression that there aren't very many spearable fish. On our scuba dive we only saw one grouper worth taking and couldn't get close enough for a shot. Freediving we hit some wrecks and only saw a few triggers.

Maybe it was an off day or maybe the wrong time of year. Either way we had fun.

There is a great Italian restaurant that has two locations. One is on top of a hotel with white lights near Margaritaville and the other location is in downtown 1-2 streets back. You will know it because it has a winding staircase up to the second story which is perilous because it doesnt have an inside rail. Ask around because I don't remember the name but deffinatly worth hunting for and finding.

I lost all my contact info, call Jeff at Maximum Scuba in Houston, he has Leo's contact info.

I think Leo just bought a boat so he's more mobile.
