Dear Spearo,
We are pleased to announce the opening of www.MakoSpearguns.com. If you have visited our site prior to today, you may need to hit your refresh button to avoid the “coming soon” screen.
MAKO Railguns are not new to the spearfishing community.
For years, the original manufacturer of the MAKO Railguns, engineering legend, Daniel Ho, has manufactured these same guns for companies operating outside the USA.
Looking to expand his market and make these guns more affordable to the USA market, Mr. Daniel Hu licensed MAKO Spearguns as an authorized reseller in the USA.
To date, private label agreements have been made with companies in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, South America, Japan, Taiwan, Spain, Portugal and other parts of Europe, thus establishing a global network of private label resellers of these high quality railguns available worldwide at very competitive prices.
Our ability to offer this line of high quality railguns became the foundation from which to build from. We also offer all types of quality hunting gear such as camouflage wetsuits, floats, floatlines and dive gear, thus making MAKO Spearguns your one stop shop for all your hunting needs at very affordable prices.
We recently exhibited at the Blue Wild Expo hosted by Sheri Day where we were so fortunate to be surrounded with hundreds of people bound together by a common thread, Spearfishing. It was so exciting for us to be face to face with our customer base. Just think about it for a moment from our perspective. Our customers jump into the ocean equipped only with a speargun in pursuit of food while avoiding such risks as shallow water blackout, dangerous currents, potential for entanglement, and yes, shark attacks. And, like us, they do this for fun! How cool is that?
We know you have many choices when it comes to purchasing quality spearguns and related spearfishing gear. It is our goal to become your number one choice. To achieve this, we have adopted a simple yet effective philosophy. Provide high quality goods at very competitive prices while establishing and maintaining customer loyalty through unmatched customer service and support.
Please take some time to review our site. As a new company, we are very much open to comments and suggestions. We value the opinions of each and every spearo, regardless of their level of experience. For us to grow, we must rely heavily on input from our customers.
Again, I wish to thank you in advance for your time and consideration. DIVE SAFE!!!

Welcome to the market. I did see your display at the Expo, but I'm not a rail gun user, so I'm afraid I didn't pay much attention to the guns. However, I did think that rigging kit was very nice. The yellow Spectra reel line also caught my eye, as did the wishbone insertion tool. And the only things I bought at the entire Expo were two of your swivel ciips at $6.95 each. I'm such a big spender.:) I just put one on the front end of a floatline today.
I just looked around your webite for a few minutes, and it looks like you could be a single source for a lot of things that are hard to find, and often must be purchased from multiple sources.
I wish you good luck.

Hi Mako,
Looks like you've got a great product line. I just cruised through the website and saw a lot of cool stuff.
One thing I'd like to point out is the link to the survey on spearfishing ethics. I think that particular page, and more specifically the questionnaire, is overly simplistic, has leading questions, and is generally unnecessary. From an outside perspective, it's a bit abrasive.
Other than that, I think you've got a winner.

Thanks Bill! We aim to be a one-stop-shop for most all your spearfishing and freediving supplies. All gear listed in the on-line catalog is in stock.
Here's a pic of the tool kit. We sold out of these at the expo, but they're available now. An incredible value.

Great site and the gear looks top notch from what I saw at the Expo. I won the Mako floatline off the raffle so I have to say thank you and I look forward to testing it out soon. I think I'm going to be a Mako gun owner very soon

I spent quite some time in the Mako booth at the expo and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the various items and the prices are very reasonable.
As far as first impressions go the mako product line had a fairly impressive one.

We appreciate the feedback everyone. We think you will find some incredible values. It’s literally taken years for us to assemble our full line of spearfishing and freediving gear. Each item has been tested for durability, functionality and quality. We were very encouraged by many of the comments we received at the Expo:
“Your guns look great!”,
“Everything looks to be of excellent quality”,
“I wish I knew about your gear when I bought XXXX from YYYY, because this looks better and cost much less”.
We realize that we don’t yet have name recognition, but in order to be successful we must provide our customers quality, value and exceptional customer service. We are determined to do all three.
Our website provides a wealth of information. We have a “how to” section which we hope will be especially valuable to people who have not yet experienced the benefits of a quality railgun. This section provides step by step guidance that may well save you time and money. We carry everything (tools and supplies) that are needed to quickly make bands and replace worn or damaged rigging on any type of speargun. If you don’t already have your own set of tools, you need to check out our specially designed tool kit (which sold out at the Expo).
We stock a huge assortment of gear at our facilities in Virginia. Everything within the on-line catalog is in stock and will be shipped within 48 hours. There will be no issues with back ordered merchandise.
Each MAKO gun is assembled individually in our shop. You specify the barrel length, handle/trigger mechanism (we offer two choices), open or closed muzzle, size and number of band(s) and you can even personalize your gun with a few other very functional options. All guns come fully rigged with monofilament, shock cord with swivel and a high quality, pinned shaft. If you’re not sure which type of muzzle to select, you can order a spare; they are compatible and are very easy to switch out.
All MAKO guns come with an integrated loading butt and an optional rubber butt pad is available as well. We feel the inclusion of a butt pad makes loading our railguns considerably easier and more comfortable.
We realize the economy is tough right now, so we offer an unbeatable payment plan for orders over $100. Upon receipt of your order, we will immediately ship and your credit card will be billed four equal payments over the following 4 months. There are no finance charges or handling fees associated with this payment plan. Normal shipping charges will be included in the initial billing cycle.
You will be hearing more about MAKO Spearguns in the future.

DAMN.!!!
I wanna be pissed off due to the undercutting of the Rabitech line...
But it is hard to argue with your business model.
You (whoever is the Guy behind the idea) have a well-developed offering.
Good luck, and try to respect the other companies that have paved the way for you. :thumps:

What's the stiffness like on the Mako fins?
MAKO Spearguns

We offer the blades in only one stiffness. I would categorize them as "moderately stiff".

I got caught up in the hype, guilty as charged. I ordered a weight belt and some small accessories from Mako, just to try them out. Ordering was easy, shipping was quick, and the weight belt is AWESOME for under $25! On top of all of this, they threw in a free gift! Thanks Mako, I'll be back.

Thanks again for the kind words. We do appreciate the feed back. We are continuing to work on expanding our product line By summer, we hope to be introducing a completely new line of freedive fins which incorporate replaceable blades and our own footpockets. These fins are very comfortable, perform well and will be priced to make everyone happy.

hello,
looking for some size 15 fins, any ideas
MAKO Spearguns

Unfortunately, I don't think you will fit into our largest footpocket. You might want to look at open heel fins. They may loose a little in energy transfer, but they still work pretty well. The buckles can also represent a slight entanglement hazard depending on where you dive. Sorry.

MAKO Railguns are not new to the spearfishing community.
Dear Spearo,
Mako Railguns are not new to the spearfishing community. They were designed and developed by engineering legend, Mr. Daniel Hu.
Mr. Daniel Hu then issued a license to a company in South Africa (Rabitech) to sell these railguns in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. Daniel Hu then issued a license to us, MAKO Spearguns, to sell these same high quality railguns in the USA.
The only modifications done to the guns were the Rabitech and MAKO logos added to the grips.
These high quality railguns continue to be produced, for both Rabitech and Mako Spearguns, by Mr. Daniel Hu at his same factory that has made these guns since their entry into the market.
With the addition of MAKO Spearguns offering these high quality railguns in the USA, the production cost of these high quality railguns has been reduced, thus resulting in a mutually beneficial relationship between MAKO Spearguns, Rabitech and manufacturer/designer, Mr. Daniel Hu and of course, you the spearo.
Our ability to offer this line of high quality railguns became the foundation from which to build from. We also offer all types of quality hunting gear such as camouflage wetsuits which are manufactured by the same factory that produces high quality wetsuits and accessories for many nationally and internationally known companies.
We also offer a complete line of floats, floatlines and dive gear, thus making Mako Spearguns your one stop shop for all your hunting needs at very affordable prices.
We know you have many choices when it comes to purchasing quality spearguns and related spearfishing gear. It is our goal to become your number one choice. Again, I wish to thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
P.S. We can ship outside the USA. However, as we respect the licensing agreement between Rabitech, Mr. Daniel Hu and MAKO Spearguns, we do not ship guns or gun parts to South Africa, Australia or NZ.

Dano

Im Buying a 90cm Predator ASAP. one thing tho, whats the distance on a shot from the end of the gun? just wondering... Still Gonna Get It No Matter What!!!
MAKO Spearguns
03-30-2009, 09:44 PM
Maybe 12 feet or so with a single wrap, you can shoot somewhat further with another wrap of line, but accuracy and penetration power will begin to fall off in a few more feet with more line than a single wrap, especially with a 90 cm. Remember, you will have your arm extended and the gun itself is nearly 5 feet long, so with a single wrap, that puts the range from your eyes at roughly 19-20? feet.

This all sounds good but I still have a question:
What makes Daniel Hu an "engineering legend"?:D:confused:
