I would love to see on in person, but never have. The last time someone had talked about titanium pole spears they were very expensive. Great idea, though.

looks nice, even if a little short at 7 ft. BUt then I don't think we're their target demographic

I saw a couple titanium pole spears on ebay a few weeks ago and their list price was somewhere between $400-500, don't know if any sold though.

Yeah, I remember that they were looking in the 500-600 range.

to my understanding one of the largest benefits of a pole spear is weight when it hits a fish it has much more weight behind it therefore hitting the fish harder and with more mass than a regular spear shaft, doesnt such a lightweight defeat that?

Yep.
There will always be a trade off. All things being equal, a pole spear with low mass will fly faster than a heavier pole spear. A heavier pole spear will hit with more punch than a light pole spear. Generally a lighter, thinner pole spear is going to bend easier and not be as strong or take as much abuse as a more robust one.
I prefer a slower, heavier pole spear because I am ususally shooting fish that are relatively close and not moving really fast and sometimes they are not small.
A super strong titanium pole spear would be cool to have. I think I saw this guy's product at DEMA 2 years ago and he was obviously a craftsman. If it was the same guy, his custom-made tips looked especially strong.
If his price is over $500, his product is definitely a specialty item.

yea i can understand the price it seems like he puts alot of work into each individual spear. it seems like being so flexible though that it would suseptible to bending when you "load" it makes sense to me that it would have a similar effect to shaft whip.

Twist the spear as you load it, so that the rubber corkscrews around the pole. This has a stabilizing effect on the more flexible spears such as the old fibreglass ones and keeps them from bending while loading.
