reading the regs and emailing the dfg, it seems as if i do not need a commercial fishing liscense if i am under 16
anyone know about this?

that is correct. when i was under 16, i used to do some commercial rockfish aboard a family friend's boat. he had a license ..... i was told i didn't need one.

you dont need it.
however, i dont think you can put landings in your name. Which i doubt you'll be doing anyways

nope you are not allowed to fish on a commercial fishing vessel if you dont have a
commercial license and if you are not 16 you cant get one therefor you cannot fish me and my friend spent 3 hours at dfg headquarters trying to get him a license but he was not 16. we called wardens and talked to a bunch of people in sacramento from dfg hq you cannot fish commercially if you are under 16 period.

my little brother has tended on urchin boats since he was like 12
warden's up here know and its always been legit
i just means when you turn 16 you need to start purchasing one
