I was looking through my diving guide, and it said there is beach diving and spearfishing in your area. Is it worth it to try for fish/bugs from the beachs? What's the vis like this time of year? Any restrictions on carrying my speargun across the beach?
Thanks for any responses.

Yes, you could dive off of the beach for bugs or fish any time of the year provided the visibility is decent. Don't expect big grouper or snapper, although they are there sometimes...
Vis this time of the year is hit or miss...usually the calm summer brings about very good visibility, but this time of the year you'll be lucky to have 5-10 ft.
There is a rule about using a speargun within 100yards or 300yards of a public beach or something...not too sure, you might want to look that up.

Thanks for the reply. 5-10 feet doesn't sound bad with what we have had lately. Went 25 miles out and vis was 3 feet. Water temp. of 60 deg. (cold). I think I would rather try to shoot something than hit one of the springs.
What's the water temp. been lately?

Its been 67º out 17 miles and gets colder to 60º as you go in closer. The river was 58º last night.
