Been snorkeling the southern end of the Puget Sound for past 6 years and Neah Bay area as well. Have been throwing the idea of hookah diving for past few years. Used to scuba dive years ago in the Gulf off the coast of Panama City. But, now prefer to snorkel or freedive. My question is this, other then knowing some basic scuba knowledge. How well would a hookah system do in the cold waters up here? Anyone have any experience in this area?

i have heard nothing but bad things about hookahs. i own one and have used it. but no longer. if its gas powered the exhaust is taken into the intake then into your lungs. These systems are used often for bridge repair. studies have shown they put lead and other deadly chemicals. ill find some articles on it

ive used a hookah in cold water in RI, its not terrible, it just kinda cumbersome sometimes especially if youre with another person and youre looking for lobster or fish and not sticking together.

I've seen where you have to put the breather high above the engine. Which is why I'm thinking down the battery line. The water temp here in the sound runs around 46 in the winter to mid 50's in the summer.
