Think south of Westport to Sakonnett. Whats a hot shore dive?
Clearly thinking spearfishing - not sceanery.

You know, word to the wize. The internet has really screwed up the surfing/fishing out here in socal-it's really crowded-I heard that surfing is getting to be the same way back there in NE. Guys out here use the Private message option to give detailed fish info. The reason?(we learned the hard way) Spots like sakonnett point will eventually-and believe me it will- look like a kayak festival, and the fish will be all shot up an' spooked. It doesn't matter to me--I live 3000miles away, and where I live is already ruined like that. You guys on the other hand, it sounds like you have a garden of eden and you still have a choice to help keep it that way. Someday you may kick yourselves. If you do not believe me ask any older surfer in RI, or older freedivers from san diego. OK I will get off my soapbox now LOL!! But, in sincerity you guys might want to consider using the PM.

Hey, ctfreediver what kind of kayak you you use, I am thinking about getting one. Any suggestions?

I have a Scupper pro TW and a scrambler. They are both great.
The Scupper pro tracks better, it seems to be narrower, and it is definately longer.
The Scrambler is very stable. But because it is shorter it does not track as well.
Both boats are great. My kids love the scrambler.
I like the scambler better when I am SCUBA diving, but the scupper when I freedive or for longer paddles. It depends on your size, what type of paddleing, the conditions, and how much gear I guess.
I tell everyone, try both, with gear if possible.

Man's got to make a livin...
Scrambler by ocean kayak. I think I paid about $450.00
The scrambler is smaller and easier to hump back and forth. You really have to think about your average diving and make your choice from there...

Yeah, It's warm. The water is 59/60 right now, it drops down to about 54 in the winter. I think you guys in south new england have warmer water in the summer-the gulf stream. I have to hand it to you for going out there in the winter. I have a tough time going out here in march. It's april! Things are warming up and yellowtail/whiteseabass are here.

Thats good info-Thanks!
I usually dive in La Jolla. There are a few spots that have not been hit as hard due to the water clarity. But.. if you dive in the well known public spots, the fish are really spooked(and far/few). I have not dove up in PV yet, I do know they have some big White sea bass there, but I don't know how bad it has been hit. Someday soon I would like to check it out.
