The Marine Protected Areas Federal Advisory Committee will hold its 13th meeting on April 21-23, 2009, at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis, MD. The meeting will focus on draft reports and recommendations by the two Subcommittees (Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and the Review and Evaluation Subcommittee).
A presentation on NOAA's Next Generation Strategic Plan will be given, and an expert panel will discuss the evaluation of the national system of marine protected areas.
On April 22, NOAA and Department of Interior leadership will speak about their agency's perspectives on ocean conservation and management. Immediately following those remarks.
Committee members and the public are invited to attend a ceremony to announce the first sites accepted into the National System of Marine Protected Areas.
The meeting is open to any interested individuals, and there are two public comment periods scheduled. The meeting agenda is available at www.mpa.gov. For more information, contact Lauren.Wenzel@noaa.gov.
