spear guns on a plane

is it fairly easy to travel with a spear gun? or does the airport like to give you a hard time about it? and as far as storing it in your luggage bag, any recommendations? im mostly concerned about the spear shaft getting bent.

what i do is use some 10cm diameter pvc tube...
if you can remove the handle its really easy, if not you can get a 90 bend piece that the handle can be manouvered into.

Samuel L. Jackson used one in that snakes on a plane movie, I think he was in the cargo hold, so it must be possible. :D

On a serious note, Mako has some great bags for traveling with spearguns at great prices. The guns fit in the bag and the shafts fit in a small PVC tube. I think the bags are only like $60, which isn't too bad.
