I have a lovely request for you all for the weekend. I would like any of your fish gonads that you wouldn't mind giving up. Yes you read correctly, fish gonads. We're starting the reproductive chapter at school & what's better than showing kids real testes & ovaries. :thumps: So since I know lots of fantastic fish will be shot this weekend to win the tournament, I'm requesting the gonads out of any fish you don't mind having gutted. Even one fish worth would help me out. Thanks everyone for even considering!

The gonads are the egg pouches or the sperm pouches. Roe. They usually take up a lot of room in a fishes gut. Females have eggs(yellow grainy), and males have sperm(milt)(white, fine) There are 2, and they can be carefully removed whole, and put in a zip lock baggie. They are often eaten(by me!). Female roe anyway! Usually smaller grouper and hogfish are females, and larger are males. Snapper can be either. Same with kingfish, dolphin, and amberjacks.

Good clarification Steve. Gonad is a term for sex organs, male or female. Marcus-no teabagging

Thank you everyone who donated to my students' education! They loved the labs yesterday & today. I couldn't have done it without your gonads! I attached a photo of the lab materials (that is just one teste from a BIG mutton!) and one of my students engrossed & grossed out by what she's studying. Thanks all!

Nice work, Teach!! :)
Jess,
Thank you for the help gutting fish in the back of the truck. After spending the night doing the Duval crawl, I was glad I didn't have to do it the next morning.
