Children's Pool in San Diego could become a "marine mammal park" through SB 428 which will come to the State Assembly in about a month.
All the emails in opposition before it went to the Senate committe were ignored or never seen. We know now how to get to the right people in the right way.
Go to the San Diego Council of Divers website, wwww.sddivers.com and click on "Use your last chance to save Children's Pool". This is a new set of webpages, just installed. You get sample letters, and faxes and the crucial destinations. No wasted effort.
If SB428 passes, the court order to restore that beach to citizen use will be cut down. A prime protected former shore entry for scuba and spearfishing will remain a stinking sand dune and eventually the trained seals will go to other beaches which will be cut off to people. If SB 428 passes, and the area is declared a "marine mammal park" the seal display industry will redouble its efforts to get an MLPA installed around it, setting the precedent for NO ACCESS MLPAs creation.
should it go through Assembly committee, it will shoot through the full Assembly and be on Arnold's desk within a month afterward. This is not a drill.

Done.

Prepared seven and faxed six successfully based on my addy. Got proof of faxing too. The one to Michael Prosio simply won't fax.

This set of tools makes it soooo easy. I encourage SBers, particularly those who are from SD, to jump in.

The enviros are leveraging this Children's Pool issue to justify closing La Jolla (claiming that La Jolla contains the ONLY seal rookery in San Diego County and therefore La Jolla should be closed to protect these seals--nevermind they are not endangered and are a source of water pollution and they endanger the very marine habitat the MLPA is meant to protect).

Thanks guys and the SD Council of Divers for fighting the good fight.

Ha, that's because I messed up. Prosio's number is 916-319-1009.
Or just go back to the weblink. I just fixed it on line.
