Sask, Muff Diver, Rickdawg, Paul, and Myself boated out to the Coronado Islands on Saturday. We searched for the south kelp but the currents were ripping and we failed to locate the kelp bed. South Island Vis was about 15' with snot colored water, and very few fish. North Island had better vis around 40' and Muffy picked up a 22# Yellowtail. Good work man. 60 miles traveled, 5 big guys, tons of gear, 12 spearguns, 50 gallons of fuel, hot dogs, tiny little 17' Bayliner with little 2 stroke outboard...Priceless

Nice, Hoping to someday get in a trip like that, Hopefully you guys didn't have to Jettison any adult beverages to compensate for the weight of the yellowtail:D

We will be hitting up islands about 2 times per month. It is a very fun place to hunt.

Well, here is the pic of Biscuits yellow that he nailed at the Cornados on Saturday. The boaters were reporting lots of activity on their fish finders but the Yellows were staying deep. Water temp was about 60 at the North Island with steep drops of 4 to 5 degrees 15-20 feet down. Hopefully the water warms up soon.

Hey Sask,
Even though you didn't get any fish, I bet you still had more fun than your dive at Shaws a couple of weekends ago! :D ;)

ya, getting rolled in the surf...sand everywhere and no fish is never an enjoyable event......but whenever your doing it with friends it never seems to matter if you never get any fish.

Hey SASK nice yellow!
I never speared a yellow before, but if they are anything like amber jack out here in the gulf coast, they are pretty strong if you don't stone them. Me and the guyes are planning a trip the end of May to the rigs, and hope to shaft some biggins!

What do you think? How about we each put in $50-$100 and see what happens! I think it would be a blast. Rules to be agreed upon. We end with a big BBQ and beer on the beach to celebrate the winner/weiner! Biggest YT/WSB takes the prize. Let's get this party started!!!!!!!!!

We usually dont go much further than the outer edge of the kelp. any good fishing spots further than that would be the islands:D
