For those of you who cannot make the free MLPA 101 seminars, or who want access to the material outside of the meetings, you can now view clips of MLPA 101 on YouTube. :thumps:

You miss a lot of chances for asking questions and interaction, but through this online material, Paul and I are trying to reach out to as many people as possible. You can still attend the live seminars today and Monday, the 18th:

Soon, I will put up some of the free materials that we hand out during these meetings. Much of the material we hand out is already available here through Spearboard, but some of it is compiled for quick easy handouts and simplified. ^_^

Disclaimer: Keep in mind that these are very informal meetings. The views and discussion are not unbiased. We keep it real.

I also want to thank Dam Nguyen for helping to get this material on film so I could put together this YouTube Channel! You can subscribe to this channel - its very likely we will be updating it with new vids in the near future.

Nice! I know what I'm doing today. Gotta get ready for the meeting next week :thumps: Thanks Dam.

Edit: Just watched all the clips. I have to say that if you feel overwhelmed by the complexity of this process after seeing numerous posts and data on spearboard, watch the videos. Everything became clear, and it was much easier than trying to sort through 100 different documents and confusing data. Thanks a lot Paul, this was a great help.

I hope we are able to help all fishermen out in getting a better understanding of what they are looking at when they look at the MLPA process. As Chip will often say " This is only a first step. There is a lot of work to be done on this, it could take a lifetime." And he is right. I really feel that WE are the next front line for our own defense, as it is clear the DFG can be compromised; we need to be prepared to work toward our future, not just slide by on the fact that we are a small constituency, and we don't leave much of a footprint. I think we have created a position where a great many young fishermen/ divers can build their future in the ocean, and I hope some of you bright young men and women will take on that challenge. Trust me, it will not be a life and death fight every time. Once they get to the point of management reviews, you will have a much better chance to work with real science and your personal input and knowledge will be more influential on the outcomes for you.

Doing the MLPA seminars is a decent first attempt to inform fishermen on a more advanced level than they can get from most other means without having to do miles of reading. It has been a pleasure to help.

Thanks for all the hard work you guys and girl! This helps me fill some of the gaps I had questions on. Can you put this same thread on Bloody decks or has already been done?

Already x-posted as its own thread to Bloodydecks. I'm also happy a few users have brought it up independently as links within related threads. ;)

Great videos! I didn't make it to the 101 meetings so these really helped out a lot :)
