I moved over to the north shore of Oahu about 4 months ago and have learned that spearfishing here is much different than most of the places I have been. I decided I needed to get out to deeper water 60-80 feet which can be a mile offshore. I bought a used scramber xt (what a pig). It is very stable, but a pain in current or wind. The first trip out I saw a couple of mahi (dolphin), an ono (wahoo), and 3 nice kahalas (amberjack). I stoned a 15# kahala and was stoked to have the kayak 'cause a shark cruised by and it gave me a place to retreat. Having a kayak opens up all sorts of oppertunities and I'm excited to learn how to rig it and be more efficient. I still feel a little akward in it. Any tips would help guys!

I was using a slip tip and had to fillet half the fish to get it out. I guess i've had worse problems!

Stay well,

Sharks favorite color is yellow. Good thing kayaks don't look like seals. Oh crap I have a yellow kayak.
