Last night's meeting (May 19) was incredible.

For me, there was one very sad and dark thing. I heard from several RSG members that they had "given up" on central laguna. That's simply unacceptable. The process is 2/3 over and Laguna is being thrown under the bus as a bargaining chip?

For any RSG members, I want you to look at the following 4 photos. The first is the entire stairwell at the Oak Street beach access incentral Laguna - something like 25 steps, within 50' of FREE parking on safe sidestreets, and one of over a dozen access points in central laguna with similar setups you are throwing under the bus. The second THREE photos are all just thre sections (not even the entire thing is shown by the three photos combined) of the stairwell at thousand steps - one of the very few beach accesses that wil be left open, and it's so steep and long that disabled, the elderly, the very young, etc, can't make it up or down.

You are giving up disabled beach access with safe free parking and making people park on a busy highway (I got clipped by a suburban about 50 yards from the 1000 steps access while cycling in 2000 - it's DANGEROUS), and then hike down all these stairs in order to do... what? Negotiate to save somewhere else?

I bet that not even 2% of the RSG members could carry a kayak down or up the stairs at 1000 steps...............

Finally I do want to thank the RSG members that are still trying to save some of central Lag. Don't give up, even if it's uphill. You're doing the right thing.
