I might be looking to get into a project. I have my 23' Gaucho freshly repowered, which can sustain me for the next few years while I work on said project.
I am looking for one of these situations:
1. A non-center console boat (i.e., cuddy) that is at least 28', and preferable in the 30 - 34 class, or
2. A Cat style boat in the same length.
Ideally, I would want something with no power or worthless motors, so it is steeply discounted. I want a solid hull, though. I don't want to have to spend years grinding and sanding. I do not want to have to rebuild the deck, or work on stringers/bulkheads. I would be willing to convert an I/O to an outboard powered boat.
I also might consider a center console if it was the right situation, as if someone blew up the motors on their 31 Contender and just wanted to get rid of it.
See anything, let me know if you think of it. No rush on this. So even if you see something several months from now, let me know.

Scott:
Sad to say, but a good time to look for the type of boats you describe is after a hurricane has passed through an area and the insurance companies have written them off.

Max price: I'd like to find a great hull for about $20,000, no power, some TLC needed.
The Hurrican Season will be starting soon, so maybe there is hope. I'll be like a storm watcher driving after a big storm up and down the Atlantic Seaboard. I hope it hits an area with a lot of affluent people. They'd be more likely to have nice boats that are half destroyed.

That shouldn't be a problem.

I need to check back on this thread more often. Yes, I'd like to see that! speargun@tampabay.rr.com.
My Fleet Craft is a knock-off hull of a Formula 24, but the extra space is what I am looking for. Man, if I could get a nice hull for a couple of grand, I'd be all over that.
Thanks!

Scott, I have a Bertram 31 with fresh everything I'll let go for 100k. Twin 300hp Yanmar diesels (325hrs), 28kt cruise burning total of 21gal/hr, generator, a/c, microwave, northstar DGPS, furuno radar and depthfinder, autopilot, too much to list, the best of everything. I paid 25k for the hull and have another 100k invested, a year and a half drydock and a smoking habit to boot. I did all of the work myself so I'd imagine that I'd have close to 200k into it if I let the yard do it.
The 31 Bertram is noted as the "best powerboat ever built in it's class". Hand laid 3/4 inch glass, a 110sqft rear cockpit, 11ft beam, 26?degree deadrise, etc.
I can't see how someone would spend the same money on a boat with outboards when this one will outlive it five times over, give you a better ride, more range, more room, almost the same speed and the resale value like an old Vette.
