Well we had some pretty bad thunder storms in my neck of the woods this past weekend and I think that I had the worst luck.

On monday when I went to my boat to check it out and make sure that the bilge pumps were working I found that it had been struck by lightning! No structural damage was done but it fried all of my electronics. It hit the VHF antena, blew it in half and I guess that it traveled throughout the entire electrical system. Two VHF radios, furuno radar, furuno fish finder, garmin GPS, autopilot, CD player, flood lights, and if that was not enough it got both of my engines as well.
Thank God for insurance!!!!!! I talked to my insurance company today and they said no problem just call the guy that you normally use and get an estimate and we will take care of it. No hassle what so ever, they didnt even come out to look at the damage.
So the only good thing is that I will be getting all brand new electronics and new power packs for a small deductable of $500

Has anyone elses boat ever been hit by lightning, or am I the only fortunate one?

My uncle that lives in West Palm has a 25' Mako...a week after putting on brand new twin Evinrudes, lightning tagged it and fried both motors...like you said, thank God for insurance!

State Farm rocks!
When my lame ass local dealer decided that my boat had been hit by lightning, State Farm came out, looked it over, and cut me a check for my two engines.
I've had State Farm all of my life and have never had a problem filing a claim & getting paid.
