I live on Oahu but from what I know, a lot of the Maui divers go to the "Maui Sporting Goods" store for their dive gear. It is basically a dive shop run by Brian Yoshikawa who is a top notch freediver himself. I'm sure he or any of the store's staff can guide you as to where would be the best and safest spot to go and where the off limit areas may be.

Maui sporting goods is located in Wailuku, Maui about 40 mins away from Napili. Molokini is a reserve area and fishing is not allowed there. BUT!! there is a certain distance that you have to stay away fromt the island! I have had some friends who would go by boat and fish right off the border distance for wahoos(ono)! i'm not too sure how many yards it is from the island. well good luck! the best diving place would be in Hana! but you gotta catch it when it's calm, which is rare! big uluas! aloha

Maui Sporting Goods is the spearfishing stop for every spearo on the island. it's easy to get to from the airport. I can PM you directions if you want them. There really are no other good spearing suppliers on the island. Sports Authority has the 2nd largest supply, but it's all JBL and somewhat spendy.
Molokini has a 100 yard boundary around the crater. Alot of boat traffic though and the back side drops off deep. I haven't heard of much sightings on the back, but the current back there is a real b#$%@!
Whatever you do, don't go into Maui Dive Shop and mention spearfishing! I have actually been yelled at by salespeople there before.
Check my other post in the Water temps and vis in the pacific for dive site recommendations for you.
