George, I'll be waiting to see if my work days permit this, hoping I'll be able to jump on last minute. I'm pretty sure a few from the board here are already lined up to go and I've talked to a few more who are interested.
For those who are on the fence, I can't say enough about the fun that's been had on previous trips! Great boat, great captain, excellent food and always a good time.
The fact that this trip is going to be filmed is an added bonus! I always wanted to have somebody film my incredible diving skills (ya right!:D) and this should prove to add some fun and pranks to the experience.
Looks like good times for sure:thumps:

Ron, are you going to bring your lucky banana yellow snorkel (the one in your avatar)???
That way if we lose you out there, we could always do a satelite search on google earth and pick you back up:lol:
Actually on that note, George can you post up some safety items we might have to bring along? I'm not sure what you require, but I know floats and safety sausages (or neon yellow snorkels:p) wouldn't be a bad idea out there at Cortez.

I don't think they have an icemaker but I'll check. I believe we'll need coolers, ice, ziplocks and knife. I'm going to go down prior to the trip and set up some kind of fillet table and I will be cutting fish if anybody needs a hand with that. George has blankets on the bunks, but I always prefer my sleeping bag to stay toasty.
I'm always having a hard time finding a balance between bringing everything you have and just what you need on trips like this. Remember it is a boat and it will be full of divers with all their crap. Pack smart.

Ice Chest is no problem. Brewsky is no problem also. He has 110 A/C so I will bring the vaccum pack with extra bags for the group.
Only problem I might have is the Bananas Man John Hughes. We are going to have No Banana Man and Banana Man on the same boat for 4 days. John is threatening to bring Bananas on board. I think those bananas might magically disappear on the first evening when we are leaving the dock. ;);););) :D:D:D:D

For those of you that have not been offshore at Cortez......It can get rough. I mean stiff currents, big swell etc. Make sure that everyone packs with safety in mind.
I like to have a whistle, signal mirror and a long signal float. My float has a compartment to put these safety items in. I know some divers that even pack an air horn in a dry bag attached to their float.
There will be a couple of chase boats on this trip but make sure you are prepared to be seen and or heard if you get in a current that you can't make way against.
It should be an awesome trip......good time of year and looking like a favorable weather forecast.
P.S. Make sure to bring the wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger for that fresh sashimi.:thumps:

Ok, just down at the boat, doing some work before the trip. George and I took off some tank racks and replaced them with speargun racks so we'd have a safe place to tie up our arsenal. Also added was a freezer for our fish. This is important so you guys don't have to buy 4 days worth of ice for your huge coolers I'm sure everybody was going to bring. I think what the plan will be is to fillet our catch, ziplock or vacuum pack it, mark it and put it in the freezer. The fish will be in great shape upon our return.
Also, he's planning on leaving the dock at 10pm so you guys MUST get down there prior to that. The boat will be ready after 12pm so you can get there as early as you like after that to secure your bunk and drop off your gear.
Looking forward to meeting and diving with everybody, hopefully the fish and weather will cooperate!
See you guys Thurs

Parking is wide open and free Ray. You want to get to ports O call and as you turn in you'll be driving with the restaurants and shops on your left. On your right is the parking lot and you want to look for the bright yellow Berth signs. Head to Berth 77 and park right in that row. If you walk directly into the shops from that sign, you can walk right to the top of the ramp leading to his dock. The first boat you'll probably see is Capt Ron's boat the Marlin (big and grey with a blue pilothouse.) The Sand Dollar is two slips down.
See you all there!
