7/9-Off seagrove-Friend gave me some #'s that always hold snapper but no apparent structure-asked me to dive and report report findings-depth 105'-Hard bottom reef 100 yards-small ledges-went down bouy-shot 2 snapper 1 25" and 1 23" next to bouy. Snapper everywhere-saw shootable grouper but couldn't get shot.

7/9-1 mile north same story-dive and report back-I sure am glad he doesn't dive=good numbers-Hard bottom-2' ledges-reef 300' long-lots of snapper-at end of dive found good ledge loaded with big black snapper, grouper, etc.-had to come up-came up 300 yards down current of boat-swam back to boat-@ 20 yards from boat 2 sharks came up from below-6-8's-and circled till got in boat.

After pulling anchor tried to approximate where good ledge was located and marked to dive next day.

7/10- Arrived at honey hole-dove in -swam reef and unable to find honey hole-Dropped seaviewer camera and made search patterns over entire area for 2 hours-still couldn't find-It is amazing how many sharks are on reef when not blowing bubbles underwater-camera bumped by big sandbar.

went back to deeper spot 1 mile south-got limit of ARS at bouy.

7/17/09-went out with rod on wreakraider in PC-seas 4-6'-had to stay close to hill-Son and Myself diving-first dive some metal pipes-shot nice ARS-then big sandbar moved in-I charged screaming as instructed by more experienced spearo's and He didn't scare off-lifted fish on safety sausage and went up.

next dive chickasaw-good dive looked for bugs-no luck-As expected Nick Dorado-divemaster-went down to untie and came up with a bug-

next dive blown barges-covered with fish-2 more ARS and Mangos-Goliaths-
great trip even with bad conditions. Highly recommend Rod's charter service-He was disappointed we couldn't go deeper to get the Sow's.

I had been hearing about a great dive spot off Grayton called the pyramids-Traded Rod some numbers to get the pyramid #.

7/20-pyramids off grayton-Took out 10' ridgid btm inflatable-18' CC in shop-arrived at # and found ledge-Top of rock @ 70' dropping to 82' to sand-@ 1/4 mile long. We had decided to look for lobster and did not bring guns-anchored in middle of ridge-big sandbar circles boat before anchor rope is tight-beautiful ledge with big cracks full of black snapper-found 1 bug- Moved to south end -same beautiful ledge-No bugs-More sharks-2 nice hogfish-will get later

7/23-Took my dive buddy to pyramids to shoot fish- Had to take inflatable-First dive north end-Did not get to btm before sharks start moving in-chose not to shoot fish and looked for bugs-no bugs-

moved to south end to get the hogs left 3 days before- excellent undercut ledge-found turtle snoozing under ledge so had to wake him-No hogs-Greg shot ARS and before we could get him on stringer big sandbar moves in- wouldn't leave-hooked stringer on anchor and went up. Hook and line charter friend comes over to tell us about big shark they just caught on north end of ledge. Pull anchor and recover ARS from anchor line. Never did find any pyramids.

7/26- went on lobster/spear trip with dive locker out of PC-first spot west end hard btm 12 miles offshore-105'-I found 4 bugs and my son got 1- Next lobster spot was big ledge on hard btm-No bugs- Next spot was for spearfishing inside 9 miles-pretty ledge-shot 2 mangroves- Last dive was hard btm-A few ARS nothing very large- Great day made 4 dives-5 bugs and 2 mangroves. Great bunch of guys on dive boat fintastic.

Van the pyramids are named because of how they look on a bottom machine when crossing them east-west ^ I would have gladly traded you those numbers anytime too. Just don't take all the hogfish before I get a chance to get back over there... Haven't been since January! And yes it is the sharkiest place I have ever dove too. We were going to go this week but decided to run offshore overnight deep. We still can't figure out why its not covered up in lobster, its perfect for them, I guess too many of us have those "secret" numbers! That whole area over there is just thick with limestone but that 12' rise is the best of it and the cracks on the North West side are the best for the mangroves. Let me know if you need another shooter in that rib if yours it must be nice to run 3 miles for you instead of 27 for me!

Joe on the Fintastic is one of the coolest guys in Panama City and one of my best friends, he will always take great care of the guys on his boat. To this day he is the only guy I know that dives in when someone yells "Tiger Shark!"
