Up here in the land of Boubon and fast horses; we cheap bastards have to get out oysters at Kroger ect..
Picked up a couple dozen and found small half developed crabs inside about 1/4th of them. These were not open oyster shells.... They were all tightly closed(I know to throw those away) Is there some type of grab that incubates inside live oyster shells?
Come to think of it; what the hell does and oyster eat? Could it be these small crabs?

That is one of lifes little treasures. The baby crab inside the oyster is near the top of my list of heavenly treats.

Yes, you can eat the steamed crabs whole, I've never eaten one raw so I can't comment on that.

We started out eatin' em raw but I found out that the guy who was have the party had been sick on raw oysters so he didnt' partake...
I cooked a few the next day in the oven.
Jackpine they looked sorta like your pic. They made me think of a tiny , translucent under developed blue crab.

Those are asiatic shore crabs, also called Japanese shore crabs. They are an invasive species brought over most likely in the ballast of cargo ships. We have them everywhere up here. Lift up any rock on any beach here and there will be a half dozen. They get a couple of inches and force out the local , native crabs species.
