WOW
WE went offshore on sunday 32 miles to the 150 wood wreck. Conditions were perfect. Small rollers maybe a foot with a 20 sec interval, lull you right to sleep.
Top conditions were a balmy 78 and blue water with vis a solid 60 feet. Temp on the bottom was a brisk 58 after the bath water top with 30 feet of vis. I killed one 15 pound taug on each dive and was satisfied with that for my first deep kills. I dove 25% on v planner plus three with a run time of 48 minutes for each dive, 70% deco.
On the interval I tried unsuucessfully to whack some mahi that came close to the boat. I also had a remora try to attach itself to my slipstreams while trying for the mahi! That was very entertaining, I guess they smell or taste funny because he left. All in all a great day on the water.

LOL!!!
now that's funny.
Report for dive on 7/9/2011
Dove the marine electric in 130fsw. Water temps on the bottom refuse to warm up this year, a balmy 47 on the bottom with the line at 35fsw marking a change from 70ish. A lot of juvenile taug were present as were a few huge females. I saw the two alpha males while tying up and passed on shooting plus dealling with the chain. We liberated several lobs and one nice port hole for some ones shiny brass thing collection. I have cooked those things for ever and can not seem to get them tender.

Gas choice 32/30
bottom time 50 minutes brrrrrr
hang on 70%
What a differance 2 seasons make in gas choice

Why 70%? Why not EAN 50 (@ 70') or O2?

70% starting at 40' is a little more realistic for the final deco mix up here. I would not move to another deco gas untill around 200fsw, and that would be in addition to a travel mix for a total of three stages plus back gas.
I hope to back in Pompano beach in early 2012, I got to tell you I love the deep stuff that close to shore. The engine room on the hydro is a must do again.
