Got off work the other morning at 0415. I was going to go out for a few hours of tarpon fishing but changed my mind. I'm sure glad I did. I didn't have a lot of time so I hit a well known and much fished artificial off of Clearwater. I decided to try a spot in the area that doesn't seem to get hit as hard. Only spent 2 hours in the H2o and came home with a couple of nice gags. Far exceeded my expectations considering where I went.
Very nice. How much did they weigh? Good job!

They went about 15#. Going to try again Tues before work. These got grilled already. Grouper tacos, some friends, and plenty of cold ones. We've had no rain and its been pretty calm so hopefully the vis is still ok.

The shizzarks are thinning out down here as are the poons, although I have seen some absolutely incredible shizzit with the shizzarks this year that would blow your mind. I mean awesome. Like a hundred tarpon jumping out of the water at the same time, some almost coming into the boat as a monster hammerhead attacks the pod we are casting at, then runs down and thrashes one and eats in right next to the boat. How about 6 to 10 big bulls destroying the fish we have on thats trying to hide under the boat. Happened a lot this year. We need Spear One to thin the herd out there.
Some areas Ill go for the beach photo op if it presents itself. Makes for a cool shot and a chance to get wet. My little friend Mikey will keep this pic forever.
I cant imagine shooting one of these like you guys do. Ive had them kick my butt pretty good. Even had one knock me unconsiuos few years ago while I was placing a tag in it. (that was the day I gave up tagging them).

The sharks even bit thru the shell to eat the frot legs off of this unfortunate logger head we found one morning. Bites thru the shell! Nasty bastards.
