I really want to go up to deception pass and I am wondering if there are many good spots to freedive from shore. I could take a boat but it is about a 50 mile run from here and heading into the bad weather i don't know if I want to do that. I have heard that deception Island has some scallops and I'm wondering if theres any places form shore that I could find some? I am also just curious about a general idea of what the diving is typically like up there, I've never been.
Thanks

Deception pass has some decent shore access from the state park, but you have to plan the tides carefully. I have done both shore and boat dives there.

I have not noticed too many scallops there though. If you are looking for pinks from shore, I suggest diving Skyline wall up in Anacortes. Great shore access with a moderate surface swim and tons of pinks. Current there is also a lot more forgiving.

The best spot I have been though is Deception Island. But you will need either a boat or a good scooter to get there.
