Mike F and I had planned to head out a couple bays up from here but there was a no fishing no crabbing sign showing a bylaw in effect until Nov 16. We turned around and headed to Deep Cove. Vis was shot because thermocline put it at 5M and there was massive runoff from the freshwater stream. No crabs to be seen.

We jumped in the truck and headed over to Gray Island for some good ol standby crab. Not to dissapoint it was dungeoness city. I saw three rock crab the whole afternoon. The current was pulling between high tides around 2:45pm. We did some drift by's and caught our limits of big crabs amd I grabbed 1 rock crab. Mike got 2 decent ones. Mike saw 2 giant surf perches and we didn't have our guns banded up. He got off a shot and his new picasso limp wrist 50cm gun bounced off! Hahahah excuse was he was on first notch of shaft:rolleyes:. Out of the water at 4pm and on the road at 4:20  Vancouver stylez. Time for dinner.

I have still not fired off the Mako 55cm in anger. I think a trip to the lake is at hand.

Toast?

Do you know the permitted gear for Perch is hook and line only?

I just re-checked, you're right. I have yet to see one worth a shot until today but looks like they are off limits. I could have sworn they were available to spear in area 16 this year and assumed 28 as well. Thanks for the heads up.
