With the Wiley Sea out of the water for the past five weeks, my promise to teach my 11 year old how to spearfish this summer was going unfulfilled. With Father's Day weekend shaping up to be weather perfect, I realized how lucky (?) I was to be the proud owner of two boats. So Friday, Rick and I drove up to Crystal River for the weekend. Saturday morning we got up early, hooked up the 18' Seacraft and made the short drive down to Bayport. It was mostly hunt and peck, but by two o'clock we had seven nice grouper and Rick got three of them. I believe he would have outshot me, but I quit cocking his gun for him and told him it was time to head for home. We've lobstered and scalloped together many times, but I was amazed and thrilled at his composure in the water. He was patient and not at all trigger happy. He made calm, fluid freedives, selected legal fish, and made clean shots on all of them. It's my policy to never open a cooler at the boat ramp, but it was all I could do not to show them off. This was a Father's Day weekend that both of us will never forget.

Richie.....saw your photo on the other forum, although I won't admit to recognizing you in that position. Curious about two things...First, at what tender age did you learn how to pose like that, and second, do they float to the surface from that depth? I cautioned my 11 year old that this was a very advanced technique and that improper execution at depth could land him in a world of "crap".
