View Full Version : Great cooking recipie: Hogfish

As described in the book "From Hook to Table" published by Florida Sportsman, here is a method for cooking Hogfish so it tastes like Lobster!:

Fill a pot with just enough water to cover the fish fillets. Add salt and margarine, bring to a boil. Add the fish, reduce to simmer and cover for 8-10 minutes. Serve with melted butter.

I just got to test this last night...damn it was good!

Shot about 25 lbs of sheepshead over the weekend along with a hogfish. Cooked lunch for my wife and I using this recipe with the hogfish and sheepshead - unbelievable. It was incredibly easy to make and man did it taste good.

I've always thought sheepshead were pretty tasty, but this recipe really does bring out a lobster taste. Boiled 'em in about an inch of water and dribbled some melted butter on top before serving.
