View Full Version : Slipper Lobster
Once you have captured a slipper lobster (by hand) and verified it has no eggs, can you place it on your stringer? I know you can't spear them and my stringer is considerably smaller in diameter than my spear points. I know of nothing that says you can not pierce the body after it has been captured and the diameter of the hole should prove it wasn't speared.

No, but a good way around that is to keep a couple light lanyards on your stringer and place the lanyard over the lobsters tail and draw it tight. The lanyard keeper will keep it tight. It works even better on Spiney lobsters because they have those deep cuts between the spines on their tails. They absolutely cannot get off the lanyard unless the keeper fails.
Lanyards are a much better option than bags IMO, especially if you are not targeting lobster and just happen upon a couple during a spearfishing dive. I hate carrying a large bag in my BC pocket or having to carry one.

Got a picture of that rig Kevin? I've often cursed the "Drag Bag" while diving.
